The Religious Community Services event of the year has arrived in fabulous fashion! Believe us when we say you’ve never seen an event like this before! The glitz, the glamour will take your breath away as soon as you step through the doors of The Maola at Riverside on Saturday, August 19th.

You’ll be joining and supporting local nonprofit organization, Religious Community Services (RCS) for their First Annual Gala, “An Evening in Old Hollywood”.

Tickets are available on Eventbrite for $150 a person. Tables are available for $1200.  As always, RSC welcomes donations to support their mission to “address the basic needs of struggling people by proving food, clothing, and shelter to those who need it most.”

RCS is dedicated to Building a Supportive Community, Engaging People Holistically, & Empowering permanent life change. This includes various forms of assistance and support, seeking to faithfully and respectfully serve people in times of need. RCS is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive community where everyone can feel valued, supported, and empowered to build a stronger future.

Executive Director Zeb Hough says, “With donations down this year, we wanted to come up with a new event that was creative, fun and exciting! We truly feel that this gala will bring awareness to our goals in supporting our community and help us reach our objectives for 2023.”

This soiree will take you back in time and feature a walk down the red carpet (pose for the paparazzi!), a delicious dinner.

The highlight of the night will be a thrilling performance from fan-favorite Von Lewis, renowned performer and co-owner of Baxter’s 1892, featuring a sixteen piece big-band orchestra “Contra Band” and fabulous looks from Old Hollywood!

“Everyone in the band is made up of professional musicians, and this is the first time this group has come to New Bern,” says Von Lewis.  “We have rehearsed in Jacksonville and Wilmington, and the bulk of content I will be singing is Sinatra with Count Basie style arrangements.  Will have great dancing tunes like Cheek to Cheek, Under My Skin, I Get a Kick Out of You, Come Fly With Me, Fly Me to the Moon and My Way.  I’m particularly excited about being able to sing That Old Black Magic, that I sang in the film Green Book, with a live big band, with the original arrangement from the movie.  It’s going to be a very lively evening, with a big, full sound.”

Silent auction items include an autographed copy of a Nicholas Sparks novel, getaway vacations, health and beauty services, high-end spirits, ENC Beef Package, sports packages, restaurant gift cards and so much more!

So dress up for a great cause and come dance the night away as RCS answers the call to serve by faith and positively impact the lives of who they serve.
