Dear Henrietta,
I’ve made a New Year’s resolution to lose some weight, but I don’t know where to begin. I tried all the conventional ways to lose weight and none of them work for me. What do I do?
Signed,
Chubby Hubby
Dear Chubby Hubby,
Studies have shown that there are some odd little tricks that might help with weight loss:
• Drink a big glass of ice water when you first wake up to increase your metabolism and do it again before every meal.
• Put a mirror in your kitchen.
• Eat more broth-based soup: It’s hydrating and fills you up with less calories.
• Consider any kind of movement that you integrate into your day “exercise,” including running the vacuum, doing laundry, physical tasks at the office or taking the dog out for a quick walk.
• Use a plate that is a different color than the food you are eating in order to eat less of something (potato on white plate); and the same color to eat more of something (salad on green plate).
• Drink more coffee or tea.
Word to the wise, AVOID crazy, dangerous fad diets: no tapeworm tablets, cotton ball diets, cigarette diets, or baby food diets.
So there you are! I hope this helps! And remember: even though you are dieting, still try to live in the moment, and if that moment becomes distasteful, just eat a cupcake.
Enjoy!
Love,
Henrietta
