Dear Henrietta,

My mother is my dearest friend, and I want to give her something truly unique and special for Mother’s Day this year?  Do you have any ideas that could help?

Signed,

Mama’s Boy

Dear Mama’s Boy,

What a wonderful opportunity you have to express your love and gratitude for your mother!

The most common way to express gratitude is with a spoken word, a hand-written note, or a tasteful bouquet on Mother’s Day.

However, being that your mother is your best friend, you need an expression of your devotion that is off the charts and something to remember:  a self-portrait, created by your own hands.

Here’s my best advice:

1. Buy a canvas, as big as you can find.  Get some kind of paint, pastel, even crayons—anything you’ve got on hand.

2. Put your supplies beside a mirror in your bedroom. Strip down to your comfort level.  The less clothes you have on, the more authentic it will be.

3. Paint!  Your mother created you, and now is your chance to honor her with an image of you, made by you! Really go for it!

P.S.  Remember, you can always add a fig leaf, to cover the bits, if necessary.

I hope this helps and remember:  Mother always knows best!

Love,

Henrietta
