Egbert Modderman, Dutch painter of biblical art, will be the guest of New Bern Art Exhibit during the month of July.
During his stay in New Bern, he will create a painting of Simon the Cyrene, carrying the cross for Jesus on his way to Golgotha. The person carrying the cross will be a model from New Bern. The painting should be completed by the end of Egbert’s visit.
Recently Egbert completed the “Paralytic” (above) showing four men carrying their paralyzed friend to Jesus to be healed (Matthew 9:1-8). The painting (10’x5’) will be on permanent display in the Martinikerk in Groningen, Holland.
