Writers Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman bend the rules of time and space as the assassins throughout American history meet to inspire each other to commit disturbing acts in the name of the American dream. The plot revolves around John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald, other assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods as they plot to assassinate the president which leads to irreversible historical consequences.
