Broadway is a three-year-old female Chiweenie / Lab mix and the much-loved pet of Candy Kelly.
What’s a Chiweenie? A Chiweenie is a cross between a Chihuahua and a Dachshund. Known as a “designer breed,” the Chiweenie is loyal with lots of energy in their little bodies! Others names for the Chiweenie are weeniehuahuas, Mexican hot dogs and German tacos.
This particular pup is a rescue, and her Mom, Candy, describes her as “quiet, sweet, funny and catlike. She loves to curl up in the sun, chase squirrels, and go on long walks on a sandy beach.”
Broadway loves to go to Union Point Park and join couples sitting on the bench, lapping up all their love, and giving them happiness. She is a very calm dog and also enjoys young children petting her at the park. Someday she hopes to become a service dog to help children.
Walking around downtown New Bern is Broadway’s favorite past time. If there is an open store door, Broadway will saunter in to visit. She makes herself right at home at Mitchell’s as well as on the comfy chair at Michaele’s Studio while waiting for Rocky the cat to make an appearance. She loves saying hello to all the children in the Pepsi store. The friendly staff there gives her the best dog treats! But her absolute favorite treat is a Bully Stick.
Broadway is very lucky to have Candy as a pet parent, since she used to have a
pet care business in New Jersey for over 20 years. During the pandemic, her business finally slowed down enough for her to adopt her own fur baby and she couldn’t love her pup more!
